Greg Jobin-Leeds, a long-time social activist, collaborated with AgitArte, a collective of artists and organizers, to capture the stories of today’s social movements and the activists behind their success with the release of When We Fight, We Win: Twenty-First-Century Social Movements and the Activists That Are Transforming Our World. The book encompasses real stories of activists on the front lines of social movements, including Patrisse Cullors, Bill McKibben, Gaby Pacheco, among many others, captures the stories, tactics, and art to inspire readers and future generations of activists to achieve real social change. As protests and demonstrations continue to sprout across the world, the book provides readers knowledge of how to sustain and grow social movements. With words and graphics, the book captures the good spirits, inclusiveness, and smarts of the contemporary movements and profound wisdom about the need for defiant struggle with the movements of today have inherited from the past.

Released in 2016, When We Fight, We Win, covers the major social movements of the decade, including same-sex marriage, #BlackLivesMatter, the DREAM Act, and the People’s Climate March, End the New Jim Crow, Occupy Wall Street, and the fight for $15 minimum wage. As a response to the mainstream narrative, our work is a counter-hegemony to mass media and expands on the stories told by the book. Their goal is to continue the deep relationships, the human connections they have forged to continue to organize towards their liberation, and uplift the stories of social movements and the people constructing social, political, environmental, and economic change.
