These projects all have short-term goals. Ideally each contributes to a campaign with a clear, well-defined path to a goal. Ideally, there are targets—people, institutions—that the project (and/or campaign) pressures and which, if pressured, can help achieve the goal.

A group of students at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois handed out flyers and granola bars to bring awareness to the school’s dining, which is notorious for poor hours and limited options for vegan students. The dining halls around campus close at 8 p.m., which ignores the schedules of many college students. The poor options for vegan students also leaves many with no options for a proper main course for their meal.

The celebration of culture and religion subsequent to the murder and torture of dozens of bulls is the spectacle of San Fermin that draws an army of international tourists to the small city of Pamplona.
