In 2017, the political party Ahora Buenos Aires (Now Buenos Aires) was running in the legislative election for the first time. It is not easy being a small left-wing party in the City of Buenos Aires, therefore imagination is an essential part of a campaign if you want to get the attention of the media and voters.

One of the city’s biggest problems is the lack of policies to improve public transportation. The local government had promised new subway lines, but they never delivered on their promises. So, Ahora Buenos Aires focused its campaign on pointing this out by making fun of the government's unfulfilled promises. The party carried out two actions united by the slogan "This Subway Is Too Small."

The first was an installation on one of the busiest streets in the city center, seeking to approach potential commuters with the question: Tired of not being able to get on the subway? With a giant subway billboard in the background, a group of actors and actresses performed as if they wanted to enter the subway, juggling to get into one of the crowded cars. Dressed in casual clothes, they pretended to be workers unable to ride the Buenos Aires subway after a long day of work.

The second action was the inauguration of one of the new stations promised by the government, asking commuters the question: Did you know that the government has been promising a subway station on this site for more than ten years? In this action, cardboard was used to create the facade of the station, construction helmets for the supposed politicians who were inaugurating the station, fake passengers eager to travel, etc.

The goal of both actions was to highlight the lack of public transportation policies and the government's false promises. At the same time, the actions intended to get the media’s attention to present Ahora Buenos Aires to the voters as a political alternative.
