I really enjoy the events that we host at The Sanctuaries. They're well planned but not over-planned, so there's space to just be yourself. On Monday, January 19th, we held a wonderful event that celebrated the teachings and life of Martin Luther King, Jr. The turnout was strong!

The day started downstairs at Teaism where we all gathered to listen to the words of Martin Luther King., Jr., 'I have a dream' speech - with Geena on the turntables making "the old" new again. We also had a great conversation about what we can do to create a more just society.

Afterwards, we gathered outside the Navy Memorial / Archives metro station to host a series of street performances. People sang, rapped, shared poetry. A number of people who were just walking by got on the mic and shared their own stories. We also created ribbons with our dreams that will be part of Omolara's #SolidariTrees community art project. Overall, a great day!
