The interactive photo exhibition is part of a creative activism project held in Ghana and Serbia to highlight the corruption around data and privacy. Identified in both Serbia and Ghana are the underlying themes of government corruption with the use of public data and breaches in the privacy of citizens, in addressing, The overall project call is to galvanize and mobilize a new set of voices and audience to develop a behavior towards speaking up about corruption. The hope is to attract a new audience and sects of people to use in whatever shape or form their skills, voices, and talents to institutionalize the culture of political and social commentary to keep the nation in check.
Another goal is ensuring sustainability in the use of new media and technology in the education and advocacy of anti-corruption.
In Ghana and Serbia, corruption and bribery are at their worst. Government heavily massages public works data and that of citizens as well, whilst breaching all forms of privacy. In the ongoing pandemic, data collected as part of the COVID-19 tracking unit was used to campaign for the ruling party in power. Most citizens are unaware of how corrupt that is. We believe this project will bring a new lens and perspective into problem-solving.
This novel project sits at the confluence of technology, social media, activism, and gamification. All these tenets are intrinsically motivating and poke the curiosity in millennials as they are comfortable with anything that involves the use of technology and the internet.
This project is an exhibition that serves as an antithesis of what we face in our countries in regards to the corruption of data while showing to what extent the damage can go.
The project simply involves mobilizing the youth especially the young ones (15 upwards) and also the older generation (35 upwards) through an exhibition which upon previously signing have at least one of their image* submitted and forms part of the exhibition.

Notes

A lot of the participants were utterly surprised. We had calls to get sued about using some private data when clearly a privacy policy had been signed. A conversation around data and privacy was started.
