Art Activism Favorite

I chose these examples as I feel they fit the essential reading well, as Duncombe and Lambert describe activism as "the ability of artists to create worlds and move people" (2018). The use of wall murals would have the ability to stop someone in their tracks and make them look to admire the work done, art about an emotive topic such as the campaigns shown, would certainly move anyone, and due to the mass amount of people passing by these structures it would create a lasting image and impression on the person.

Mural artists add color and flavor on 800 South in the Granary District of downtown Salt Lake City. There’s an old-fashioned bar on the side of a locally-owned brewery, and a Southern Utah landscape on another building. Down the street, on the south corner of 800 South and 300 West, there’s a new mural that’s far more potent.
