Raising Awareness of Migration and COVID 19 through Graffiti and Street Art in Accra Favorite

In a bid to fight the spread of COVID-19, the EU Delegation to Ghana on Wednesday 27 May joined the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and artists from the Ghana Graffiti Collective, to launch an initiative to use street art and graffiti to create awareness about coronavirus and migration.

The artwork created by the Ghana Graffiti collective speak about hope, tolerance, love and solidarity.

Their aim is to make use of the unique power of street art to call upon everyone to stand together, and to stand with migrants.

The project was made possible through EU-IOM Joint Initiative for Migration Protection and reintegration funded under the European Union Emergency Trust Fund for Africa (EUTF).

Timeframe For change

This project seems to be part of a campaign with a clear short-term goal. Short-term goals tend to be things like: create or repeal a law; get a President impeached; make the city administration repair a sidewalk. A campaign with a short-term goal needs a clear theory of change, complete with targets that can be cajoled or pressured into effecting the goal.
Awareness of COVID-19 prevention for all community members.

Notes

This campaign is artistic and brings light to a community during the isolating and cloudy time of COVID-19. It also raises awareness of steps to take to prevent COVID-19 while focusing on caring for migrants.
