 smArtAction is a collaborative art exhibition organized by a group of University of Puerto Rico and New York University student-activists. The exhibition will showcase artwork created during the 2010-2011 UPR student strikes or in conversation with the student movement. 

smArtAction’s mission is to provide a platform for artistic expression and continuous dialogue; engage students, organizers, and artists in current issues of higher education, while building a network of socially engaged students.

Through the interaction with art, we hope to challenge ways of thinking about educational rights and stimulate long-lasting discussions about the future of education. The exhibition will also serve as a space to engage in conversations regarding Puerto Rico’s social and political status as it relates to the rest of the United States and beyond.

 smArt Action es una exposición de arte colaborativa organizada por un grupo de estudiantes-activistas de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR) y de New York University (NYU). La exhibición expondrá el trabajo artístico creado durante las huelgas estudiantiles de la UPR entre 2010 y 2011 y/o en conversación con el movimiento estudiantil. 

La misión de smArt Action es proveer una plataforma para la expresión artística y el diálogo continuo; comprometer a estudiantes, organizadores y artistas con los problemas contemporáneos de la educación superior al tiempo que se construye una red de estudiantes socialmente comprometidos. 

A través de la interacción con el arte, esperamos retar las formas de pensamiento en cuanto a los derechos educativos y estimular discusiones duraderas sobre el futuro de la educación. La exhibición también abrirá un espacio para entablar conversaciones sobre el estado social y político de Puerto Rico según su relación con el resto de Estados Unidos y demás.
